Hilt russet steel sculptured
in high relief and in
the round with warriors,
masks, scrolls, and mythological
figures. Guard carved
slightly ajouré. Quillons
as classical torsos in
armor. Grip hexagonal,
of silver wire: (a) four
strands plain wire, (b)
twisted plain wire, (c)
wire-wound wire, (d) composite
twisted strand made up
of one strand twisted
and one of wire-wound
wire, (e) same as (c),
(f) same as (b). Pommel
slightly flattened, with
mounted warriors at sides,
torsos at front and back.
Blade double-edged, with
high central rib which
is carved in alternating
facets, intaglio, to produce
wavy effect from forte
to point; blade flattened
at forte, hexagonal in
section, bearing two deep
parallel grooves, in which
are linked perforations.

ajouré. Quillons short, bulbous, terminate
as lions' heads which droop and turn
slightly right and left. Ricasso as
large mascaron; monster heads at base
of quillons. Grip of oxidized silver

globose as four mascarons whose horns
