marks: (1) Paris date
letter 1768; (2) punch
of Inspector Julien Alaterre

mark, unidentified. Also
indecipherable mark on
knuckle guard (left).
Blade colechimarde, two-edged,
with median flattening;
forte blued and gilded
over etching with small
portion at base etched
with trophy of banners
and polearms on left,
with panels of diaper
ornament on right completely
gilded. Above this on
left of forte scrolls,
trophy, medallion with
cross; on right similar,
with figure of woman with
sword and partisan.

depend from lion masks;
solid portions of hilt
slightly gilded or composed
of alloy. Non-functional
pas d'âne. Silver
grip en suite, rectangular.
Pommel flattened. On anterior
mid-part of guard verification
mark, decree of 1803.
On left anterior pas
d'âne three hall marks:
stamp of Inspector Henri
Clavel (1780-1789); maker's
mark (Roman capital A)
unidentified; probably
date stamp for year 1785;
on base of grip, left,
maker's mark (Roman capital
B) and mark of inspector
